Hallo

That’s hello in Dutch. Welcome to my little corner on the web. I’ve been running this blog for almost a year now, writing all articles in Dutch. Until now, that is.

But first, let me introduce myself: My name is Wouter. It’s pronounced like Walter, only with the ‘ou’ from words like ‘couch’. I’m 20 years old and I live in the Netherlands (a.k.a. Holland). And yes, that’s in Europe.
My blog is called Myshuno because it’s a commonly used word in a game called The Sims. I happen to like that game, so there.

From now on, I’m going to translate every single blogpost I write, meaning that you non-Dutch speaking guys can join in on the fun of reading my rants. I hope you’re happy for yourself, because this means I have to do twice as many work on this blog as I normally do.

Nah, I have my own reasons to do this. My English is getting worse and worse over the years, so I needed something to keep it on a reasonable level. Next thing you know I start talking like most Dutch peopel woo fink day can speek Eng… Oh my god it’s already happening! Hold on. “Orange sher-bert, answerphone, Indefatigable…” Ahh, that’s better. Sometimes it helps to say words like these out loud in a very British accent. But I digress.

Another reason for translating my posts into English, is that I wanted to expand my audience. There are only five countries in the world where they have Dutch as their official langauge. And most visitors only came from two of those countries: The Netherlands and Belgium (yes, they speak Dutch over there). English, on the other hand, is spoken by an estimated 1.8 billion people on this planet. That’s a lot…well that’s what Wikipedia says anyway.

Now of course I’m not expecting all 1.8 billion people to visit my blog, but at least I’ve increased the chance of someone visiting my site by accident, who might even stick around! But let’s not get our hopes too high…

So what’s this blog all about, you ask? Well, nothing in particular. It’s not a diary type of blog like most people do these days, because I think you’ll be bored to tears if I start to talk about what kind of excillerating things I did yesterday. Most diary blogs are utter crap anyway, owned by people who desperately need the world to know that they walked the dog this morning. Then after one week or so, they discover that having a blog isn’t so easy after all. You actually have to do ’stuff’ to keep your readers interested. And that’s where most people abandon their blog to do some other not-so-interesting-but-hey-at-least-they’re-doing-something-with-their-lives stuff.

Anyway, you might have noticed that I like to rant about things. It’s what I mostly do around here. But don’t worry, I do write about positive things once in a while.
You also might have noticed that there are only a few English posts here. I’m trying to translate my old posts as fast as I can, but at least all my new posts wil be in English as soon as they’re published.

That’s it for now, I hope you’ll stick around ;-)

Wow, it’s different! Nice job Wouter!

By the way did you notice my (English) blog has changed drastically as well? You should check it out if you haven’t yet. I bet you think it’s a better version now. The old one was kind of a mess :P

Anyway, I’ve added your blog to my feeds a while ago. So you’ll see me around :)
